We had a Pussy Cat- A real life story

We shifted to a new apartment by 2003. It was near to my school. Next year my 10th standard board exam was going to happen. We changed our locations before my class started. Construction work was going on the top of the building. There they put all the materials for construction. Behind those items there was an old pussy cat and her two kittens. One was with more white on her body and one with more black on her body. We used to go there to see those kittens. It was so nice to watch kittens playing. Once in the morning the small white kitten came to our home. She showed some tricks and caught our attention. Most of her body was white and small marks with yellow and black shades. Top of her head was black, that looked like human hair. She had only with a thin tail, not a hairy one. She became a regular visitor. Mother used to gave her a small pot of milk. She allowed us to touch her and gradually she became a member of our family. It was our first pet. Me and my sister used to play with her. She was so beautiful and she always entertained us. We watched all her activities as curious children. We prepared a cradle for her and she had the permission to sleep on beds. We all were happy with her presence.

 She was a great hunter too. She caught small rabbits, crows, mice, yellow birds etc . She never stole anything. This is not common within our common cats. All will try to steal meat or fish from the kitchen when they get a chance. She never did it. She was proud and gentle.

 Later she gave birth to lot of kittens. And there started the problem. Actually it was an apartment and other families were staying near to us. They found the presence of the cat as a disturbance. And finally we decided to avoid her with her kittens. We put her and her two kittens in a sack and gave it with a taxi driver. We all were sad. We didn’t want to avoid her but the situation was like that.  I used to dream her those days.                                                                  

 One day morning I heard a cats sound. I woke up and thought it might be a dream. But when I went to kitchen the pussy was sitting there and scolding my mother :-) for avoiding her. That day father took a decision at any cost will protect her. And we all became happy again. After a 10 days gap she joined our family again.                                                  

   After some years we planned to change our location for my sister's marriage. We took her and her two kittens with her. People told us like cats can’t live with different circumstances. They can’t accept the change in environment. But she proved it was wrong. In the initial stage in the new houses she walked so carefully as if she was walking through fire. She won’t put her paw tight in to the floor and she was much tensed all that time and following my mother all the way and all the day. And it took two or three weeks to adjust with the new place. And since she was an ordinary cat she had to undergo different process to adapt to the situation. Since she was a new comer to the situation always had an attack from the resident cats. She was hurt lot of times. After she makes a stand or after giving birth to kittens she used to become stronger. Nature will give her power. Then she used to fight back with them and punished them as they deserve.                                                                                              
  Here in Kerala there are large number of cats wandering through the streets and in fish markets. But she was not like that. She was special to us, we considered her as a family member .She was very caring towards my niece. She used to lie down below her cradle as a protector. She always kept a safe distance with my niece. There were lots of expressions in her face like fear, affection, defense, care etc; she was actually safe guarding our home from snakes and dogs. I know all will doubtful about the cat facing a dog. When dog comes she bent her back like an arch, spread her hair and with her  paw will punish the dog. She was more aggressive if she has any child with her. Once a snake reached our home, before I can do anything she attacked it and killed it. She smelt the presence of the snake and killed it within minutes. She was too alert at that time as a small leopard.

 One bad thing we had to remember about her was her bad moral side. She had lots of husbands and hundreds of children, that always became a headache for us, but we never planned to avoid her except once.

  After few months we changed our location again. She adjusted to the situation very quickly. That place was good for her. She had more freedom. And this was the final place for her also. She might have with us if those humans, our neighbors showed little more tolerance with her presence; they gave her poison in fish. She ate little and took a part to her child.  She was a caring mother too. Even if she was too hungry she used to take a part of her food for her child. Animal world teach us lots of things. Humans don’t have time to take care of their children. But animals always have time and they will care them more than there life. On the way to home she was tired. She never took food from strangers but don't know how it happened.

 Once there had a similar incident in our home. To avoid flies we put some poisons in front of our kitchen. And accidentally my mother put some fish that on the top of it. Without caring about anything she started eating that. But after having that poison started affecting her.. We all became tensed. Mother gave a cup of milk to dilute the effect of poison. Saliva started to flow from her mouth. But with God’s grace she survived that incident. And that was the first similar incident in her life. That was approximately at the age of 9 for her.

  After reaching home saliva started for flow from her mouth. And she tried to vomit. She searched for my mother for help. Mother gave lot of water and milk. But the power of poison was too strong. It looked pathetically on my mother. Mother had nothing to do. She cried, ran but no cure. At last she died. She came one day in our home and lived more than 10 years in our heart and left suddenly without giving a chance of saving her. But how they get to know don’t believe humans.

  Human always try to destroy a thing that they can’t tolerate, what an arrogant creature controlling this world. But now she is no more, cruel human being sent her to eternity. We need to lose something to understand the actual value of it. In the case of this pussy that is 100% correct.What we can do, all has to go from this world she started early that’s it.
